Summary
FieldNOC does not require an account to use the app. Core diagnostics and references run on the device. Pod workflows communicate with pod hardware over the local network. Oak & Finch Interactive does not operate a FieldNOC cloud account service for storing your network scans.
Data handled by the app
Depending on which tools you use, FieldNOC may display or temporarily store diagnostic information such as:
- IP addresses, hostnames, DNS responses, ports, latency, packet loss, and subnet calculations.
- Wi-Fi details such as SSID, BSSID, signal, channel, and local interface information when available.
- Pod data such as LLDP/CDP switch details, VLAN hints, DHCP lease details, ARP/neighbor entries, traceroute output, packet capture status, and PCAP files you choose to download or export.
- Debug log entries generated on the device to help troubleshoot app and pod behavior.
This diagnostic data is intended to remain local to your device unless you copy, export, share, email, or otherwise send it somewhere yourself.
One exception is the built-in internet speed test: when you run it, FieldNOC exchanges test traffic with Cloudflare's public measurement endpoint (speed.cloudflare.com) to measure download, upload, latency, and packet loss. This is standard network throughput testing and is subject to Cloudflare's own privacy practices; FieldNOC does not send your other diagnostic data to that endpoint.
Permissions
FieldNOC may request iOS permissions for local network access and location-related Wi-Fi information. On iOS, Apple treats access to Wi-Fi network details as location-sensitive. FieldNOC uses that access to show the connected network name, signal information, and local diagnostics, not to track your physical location.
Purchases
FieldNOC Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple may provide FieldNOC with purchase status so the app can unlock Pro features. Oak & Finch Interactive does not receive your full payment card details from Apple.
Support messages
If you contact support, you may choose to include screenshots, logs, network details, or other troubleshooting information. We use support messages to respond to the request and improve the app.
